September 2001 Newsletter

Hunting seasons are right around the corner!  Are you ready?  Get out to the range and make sure your rifle is sighted in.  Dust off the shotgun you probably haven’t touched for months and practice some skeet, 5-stand, or sporting clays.  Tune your bow, practice your game calls, scout some new territory.

To help you get into shooting before the seasons open, the club will be holding a fun shoot on Sunday, August 26.  All events will be shot with centerfire rifle.  Events will include running deer, clay pigeons at 50 yards offhand, turkey head targets at 75 yards from makeshift rest, metal plates at 100 yards offhand, helium balloons at 100 yards from makeshift rest, hanging eggs at 200 yards benchrest.

There are tentative plans in the works for another adult Handgun Familiarization class to be held sometime the latter part of September.  Contact Ken Jacks for details, 798-3159, kjacks@clarkston.com.

The club is still in serious need of volunteer help.  The following three items are sorely needed the most right now:

bullet

A person to call range officers and schedule them to man the range on weekends.

bullet

More range officers to work at the range on weekends - this is extremely important as the sighting-in period normally starts in September.

bullet

Someone familiar with web page design to maintain the club’s web site.

The September membership meeting will be held Wednesday, September 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the basement of Lewis Hall, LCSC campus.

If you are still receiving this letter via US mail, but would like to receive it via e-mail, please send your name and e-mail address to dts@clarkston.com or kjacks@clarkston.com.  This could save the club considerable costs in copying and postage.
