October 2001
Newsletter
Words cannot convey the feelings after such a vicious
attack on our country as that which occurred the morning of September 11.
I leave each of you to grieve in your own way, but ask that you remember
those that perished in your thoughts and include their families in your prayers. I finally got my tax rebate check!
I decided that since it was money I wasn’t expecting in the first
place, I wouldn’t miss it, so I donated it all to deserving organizations:
Lewis-Clark Wildlife Club, NRA Institute for Legislative Action, and, after
Tuesday, the Red Cross. I challenge
each of you to give some or all of your tax rebate to the charitable
organization of your choice; in the long run, you’ll be glad you did. The annual Pheasants Forever dinner will be
Thursday, October 4, at the Helm restaurant.
For those who may not be familiar with Pheasants Forever, they are a
conservation organization similar to Ducks Unlimited or RMEF, except that money
raised by Pheasants Forever stays with the local chapter for habitat work in the
local area. Along with the dinner,
there will be the usual silent auction, live auction, and raffle. For ticket information, call Dennis Schult at 758-6108. It was a rather disappointing turnout for the fun shoot
on Sunday, August 26, although those that did show up had a wonderful time.
There were running deer targets, balloons, hanging eggs, clay pigeons,
and silhouette targets. Charlie
Evers put two shots on the running deer within an inch of each other just above
the heart! The adult Handgun
Familiarization class may be postponed until sometime in October.
Contact Ken Jacks for details, 798-3159, kjacks@clarkston.com. The October membership meeting will be held Wednesday, October 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the basement of Lewis Hall, LCSC campus. If you are still receiving this letter via US mail, but would like to receive it via e-mail, please send your name and e-mail address to dts@clarkston.com or kjacks@clarkston.com. This could save the club considerable costs in copying and postage.
