March 2002 Newsletter

The weather these days continues to be changeable, and that manifests itself at the range as well. On nice days there are a lot of shooters, but only the diehards get out there when it’s near freezing. That’s all right, warm weather will be here soon enough.

There is a CMP shoot scheduled for Saturday, March 23 at the range. The first part of the morning will be an instructional clinic to familiarize participants with the rifles to be used, course of fire, etc. The actual match, with 35 rounds fired for score, will follow the instructional clinic. Pre-registration is required, so call or e-mail Ken Jacks for entry details - 798-7380, kjacks@clarkston.com.

The club has purchased a set of three CMP training video tapes covering all the details of how the CMP shoots work, safety, equipment, etc. Each tape is 2 hours long, and they will soon be out at the range available for check-out to interested parties. Portions of these tapes will be selected for showing at the next general membership meeting.

Don’t forget the Friends of NRA dinner at the Red Lion on April 13. For tickets contact Hal Coder at 743-1945.

The March membership meeting will be held Wednesday, March 6 in the basement of Meriwether Lewis Hall, LCSC campus. The meeting will start with viewing of parts of the CMP video tapes at 7:00 p.m., with the regular meeting beginning at 7:30.

If you are still receiving this letter via US mail, but would like to receive it via e-mail, please send your name and e-mail address to dts@clarkston.com; this could save the club considerable costs in copying and postage.
