April 2002 Newsletter
The CMP shoot took place at the range on Saturday, March 23. There were 19 shooters that
participated, with top places going to: Dave Yeoman (241-0X), Brad Manau (233-1X), and Ben
Dacy (232-1X). With so much interest, we may be able to hold another shoot in the near future.
Contact Ken Jacks (798-7380, kjacks@clarkston.com) for any additional details.
The club has purchased six CMP training video tapes - three for rifle and three for pistol -
covering all the details of how the CMP shoots work, equipment, safety, etc. Each tape is 2
hours long, and they are at the range available for check-out to interested parties one at a time for
a one-week period each.
There will be a handgun familiarization class held in cooperation with the Pistol Club on the
evenings of April 3, 4, and 5, with a shooting session on April 6. Anyone interested should
contact Sandy Sanderson at 798-0826.
The Top Gun Shootout will be held for its third year at the Flying B Ranch near Kamiah on
June 8. Shooters must choose four of the seven events to shoot in, which include long range
rifle, offhand rifle, rimfire rifle, handgun, muzzleloader, archery, and shotgun. Cash prizes are
paid to the top scorers. Contact Dennis Schult (758-6108, dts@clarkston.com) for more info.
If anyone has a small refrigerator, a TV, or a VCR that they would be willing to donate to the
club, these items would be very useful to have at the range in connection with putting on shoots,
classes, or other events. Remember, donations to the club are tax deductible.
A vote of thanks to those who have assisted at the range by serving as range
officers during the first quarter of 2002: Mike Garcia, Marc Gomez, Richard Hanby, Ron Heideman, David
Heusinkveld, Vern Judkins, Chris Martson, Richard Oliver, Bob Olson, Frank Perkins, Dennis
Schult, John Spencer, Jack Von Bargen, and Stan Wilson.
Don't forget the Friends of NRA dinner at the Red Lion on April 13. Tickets must be
purchased in advance - contact Hal Coder at 743-1945.
The April membership meeting will be held Wednesday, April 3, 7:30 p.m., in the basement of
Meriwether Lewis Hall, LCSC campus.
If you are still receiving this letter via US mail, but would like to receive it via
