September 2002 Newsletter

Hunting seasons are nearly here; are you ready? Whether it's archery deer, doves, chukar, or firearms deer a little later, get out and practice so you won't be embarrassed by misses when the moment of truth comes.

Speaking of practice at the range, we all need to be conscious of range safety, especially now with the range getting busier. Some folks coming out to shoot may not be completely up to speed on range safety procedures, so the more experienced shooters can help out the range officers by being extra observant of inexperienced shooters.

Tentative plans are under way for a fun shoot of some kind sometime in November. Details are yet to be determined. Any suggestions on what you'd like to shoot - contact me at 758-6108, or dts@clarkston.com.

I'm curious if anyone is interested in shooting .22 rimfire rifle silhouette matches. I'm willing to get things organized in terms of obtaining targets, scheduling and running matches, etc., but I'd first like to know what the level of interest is. If you are at all interested in shooting these events, please contact Dennis Schult (758-6108, dts@clarkston.com).

The annual Pheasants Forever dinner and auction will be held Thursday, October 3, at the Helm. Contact Dennis Schult for more info or tickets (758-6108, dts@clarkston.com).

The berms at the range need some redressing. This work could be done during ceasefire periods while the range is open, allowing volunteer workers to get some shooting in at the same time. If you are willing to help, contact Ken Jacks at 798-7380, or kjacks@clarkston.com.

Please save your plastic bags for use in the targets to be constructed for the archery range. We'll need lots and lots of plastic grocery bags, plastic drop cloths, and the like.

The September membership meeting will be held Wednesday, September 4, 7:30 p.m., in the basement of Meriwether Lewis Hall, LCSC campus.

If you are still receiving this letter via US mail, but would like to receive it via e-mail, please send your name and e-mail address to dts@clarkston.com; this could save the club considerable costs in copying and postage.
