September 2003 NewsletterAll right, bird seasons are finally here, so you won’t be seeing me at the range much for a while. However, you big game hunters are probably thinking sight-in (or ought to be anyway). So get out to the range and make sure you’ll be able to hit that buck or bull when he shows up this year. This month marks the 4th anniversary of the rifle range. That’s right, the range opened for use way back in September of 1999. Let’s keep it going strong. Frank Dammarell, who does Home Land Security Programs all over the western United States for police, military, and home security, has offered to hold a firearms class this coming spring. He can do a combination course of rifle, pistol, and shotgun; home security; pistol only; or a class focusing on police requirements. Your input is needed to determine what should be offered in our area. Contact Ken Jacks (kjacks@clarkston.com, 798-3159), or send a note to LCWC, P.O. Box 146, Lewiston, ID 83501. There are now M1 Garand stocks available at the range for $60, as well as miscellaneous Garand parts. The club would like to hold a muzzleloader shoot at the range sometime in November. Anyone with ideas on what kind of events you’d like to see or willing to help put on the shoot please contact Kevin Spradlin, 751-0995. U.S. Senate Bill 659, introduced by Idaho Senator Craig and Montana Senator Baucus, is legislation that will provide common sense legal reform to protect manufacturers and sellers of legally sold, non-defective products from junk lawsuits. Ted Kennedy and Diane Feinstein have vowed to filibuster in order to stop its passing. Washington's Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell need to know your stand on this issue; call them at 202-224-3121. The annual Pheasants Forever dinner and auction will be held at the Helm on Wednesday, October 1. For tickets or information, contact Dennis Schult (dts@clarkston.com, 758-6108). The September membership meeting will be held Wednesday, September 3, 7:30 p.m., in the basement of Meriwether Lewis Hall, LCSC campus. If you are still receiving this letter via US mail, but would like to receive it via e-mail, please send your name and e-mail address to dts@clarkston.com; this could save the club considerable costs in copying and postage.
