July 2004 Newsletter
Just another reminder, not much time left to get out and make sure your
rifles and pistols are sighted in and on target before hunting season.
Most of the guns and equipment slated for purchase with NRA Foundation grant
funds have been purchased and received, with the exception of some .243 rifles
and a clay target thrower. Equipment purchased, most of which is intended for
youth shooting programs, includes two gun safes, a number of .22 rimfire
bolt action rifles, .243 bolt action rifles, 20 gauge shotgun, and a clay target
thrower. Thank you Friends of NRA!
Thanks to Jerry Wilson, who donated a video camera to the club to
make a VHS tape of a shoot being held at the range so the tape can be used for
showing at gun shows to promote the club.
Thanks also to Bill England for donating and installing two white boards
at the range for informational and educational uses.
Also regarding donations, the club has received a brush cutter to keep
the weeds down at the range, but we need to raise money to offset a portion of
the cost of that brush cutter. There is a donation jar at the range specially
marked for this fund. So please take notice of it and contribute when you’re at
the range if you can, or make a contribution to any Board member at the
membership meeting, or contact any Board to send a check.
The state pistol silhouette shoot will be held at the range the weekend
of July 17-18.
The 100-meter berm at the range is in serious need of rebuilding.
Anyone with a front-loader who could help rebuild and reshape the berm(s) at the
range please contact Marc Gomez (746-0209).
The July membership meeting will be held Wednesday, July 7, beginning at
7:30 p.m., in the basement of Lewis Hall, LCSC campus.
If you are still receiving this letter via US mail, but would like to receive it
via e-mail, please send your name and e-mail address to
dts@clarkston.com; this could save the
club considerable costs in copying and postage.
