August 2004 Newsletter

Make sure to get out to the range and get your rifles and pistols sighted in before hunting season.

The Board of Directors has decided that there is an extremely important question regarding range operation that needs to be presented to the membership for consideration. This question will be discussed and voted upon at the October general membership meeting held on October 6, 2004. The question to be addressed is:

1) Should the Lewis-Clark Wildlife Club allow a shooting organization exclusive use of the entire range, including all 24 benches, to put on a shooting event?

Should that question be approved, there would be (at least) two more questions to be decided:

2) What time limitation(s) should be placed on such an event?
and
3) What fee(s) should be associated with such an event?

The membership should also understand that any decisions resulting from the October membership meeting on these questions would also require consultation with Idaho Fish and Game for approval.

A big thank you to those who have worked so hard to keep the weeds cut down at the range: Kevin Spradlin, Frank Perkins, Dean Narramore, Mike Garcia, and Bob Humphrey. Also thanks to those who helped dress the berms: Mike Garcia, Hal Coder, and Pete Wilson. And one more thanks to all of you who donated funds to pay for the brush cutter to help keep the weeds down at the range.

There will be a work party to continue weed control, etc. at the range on Wednesday, August 4. Please contact Mike Garcia at 798-3279.

The August membership meeting will be held Wednesday, August 4, beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the basement of Lewis Hall, LCSC campus.
