January 2005 Newsletter

Due to a shortage of volunteer range officers, and also a small number of shooters on Sundays, the range will be closed on Sundays in January and February. The range will remain open on Fridays and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. If anyone can possibly help out as a range officer, please contact Marc Gomez (746-0209), as we depend on volunteers to keep the range open; the range cannot be open unless a range officer is on duty. It would be a shame to lose the opportunity to use such an excellent shooting facility just because we don’t have personnel to run it. Being a range officer is not difficult, and some additional benefits include waiving of your membership dues if you served at least 6 days in the previous year, and the ability to use the range on off days as long as you are accompanied by another person (for safety reasons).

There was not a quorum of 15 voting members at the December membership meeting, so no elections were conducted. That means that the Board of Directors remains the same as it was.

The year-end attendance drawing for $100 went to Dennis Schult.

The turkey shoot held at the range on Saturday, December 4 went well and had 15 shooters.

The youth shoot held at the range on Saturday, December 11 also went well, with 13 shooters.

Notices for membership dues will be going out soon. Please look for it in your mail and renew your club membership promptly. Membership as of December 2004 is approximately 166 members. Remember, continued operation of the range and the club depends on your dues. Thank you for your support.

The January membership meeting will be held Wednesday, January 5, beginning at 7:30 p.m., in Room B30 in the basement of Lewis Hall, LCSC campus.

f you are still receiving this letter via US mail, but would like to receive it via e-mail, please send your name and e-mail address to dts@clarkston.com; this could save the club considerable costs in copying and postage.
