April 2005 Newsletter

The range is once again open on Sundays, and beginning in April range operation will return to normal summer hours: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

At the March membership meeting, a motion was passed to raise non-member shooting fees to $6.50 plus tax, effective July 1, 2005.

The club is selling raffle tickets to win a 4-wheeler. 1,500 tickets are being sold at $10 each to raise funds for range expansion/improvement. For tickets, contact Frank Perkins (743-2452), or any Board member.

There was a CMP shoot held at the range March 12. The two remaining CMP shoots scheduled for the year take place on Saturdays - April 16 and June 25. For sign-up or further information, contact Ken Jacks (kjacks@lewiston.com, 798-3159).

Several defense training courses are scheduled at the range this summer. July 9-10 - basic handgun; July 11-13 - advanced defensive handgun; August 5-7 - tactical carbine. For more information on these classes, contact Bill England (743-4549, england@lewiston.com).

Several training clinics sponsored by IDFG are scheduled for this summer, including a youth shoot May 14 in Troy; women’s outdoor clinic June 24-26; women’s archery clinic in late July; women’s fly fishing clinic August 31, September 7, 10, 11. Contact Jill Green at 798-0215.

Now that Lolo Sporting Goods has closed, there doesn’t seem to be a gunsmith readily available in the valley. Ron Reser in Asotin does some gunsmithing (243-4309), and Shawn Thomason of Craigmont (208-339-4320) is a locally well known gunsmith. If anyone knows of other smiths in the area, let me know and I’ll put the word out.

The membership meeting to be held May 4 will be a dinner meeting at the Helm restaurant, beginning at 6:00. The speaker will be Jeff Holmes, representative for the Sierra Club.

The April membership meeting will be held Wednesday, April 6, beginning at 7:30 p.m., in Room B30 in the basement of Lewis Hall, LCSC campus.
