January 2006 Newsletter

Annual elections were held at the December general membership meeting. Nominations for the Board of Directors included Dan Brandolino, Rick Brigham, Ernie Hall, Ron Heideman, Joe Metz, Kevin Spradlin, and Jess Stone. Rick Brigham, Ron Heideman, and Kevin Spradlin were elected to 3-year terms; Ernie Hall, Joe Metz, and Jess Stone were elected to 2-year terms. Rick Brigham was elected President, Dennis Schult Vice President, and Jess Stone 2nd Vice President. The Board would like to thank everyone who participated, because we had a wonderful turnout to help determine the future direction of your club.

Hal Coder won the $100 annual attendance prize, but donated it back to the range improvement fund - congratulations and thank you Hal!

From President Rick Brigham: As your new president, I have some hopes for 2006. I want to: expand the 200 yard target line (dirt work); increase range maintenance, particularly weed control; and finish up the raffle. All of these will require effort from many club members, and I am hopeful that many of you will step forward to help.
Many thanks to departing board members Hal Coder, Bob Humphrey, and Dan Brandolino. I want to thank Bob in particular; he has dedicated almost every Wednesday to the range for the past six years, rebuilding targets, cleaning the restroom, sweeping the firing line, burning the trash, trimming the trees, clipping the weeds. He also fronted a significant loan to the club when the range was in its early stages of development. Next time you see Bob, please thank him for a great job. Now we need help from you, the membership, to continue Bob’s efforts, on a regular basis (and you don’t have to be a Range Officer to do this). If you have the time and inclination, please call me at 509-751-0310, or Frank Perkins at 208-743-2452.
The club still needs Range Officers to lighten the load on individual members. We had 25 in 2005, but only 11 of these earned stars (for being R.O. 6 times) on the plaque that hangs near the check-in desk at the range. Being a Range Officer is a privilege, it requires minimal training, but it is critical to range operation. Without RO’s, the range will not function. PLEASE - if you have the time, help the club by volunteering. Call Dean Narramore at 509-758-3279.
One last thing: Please support the Friends of the NRA banquet and auction, which is scheduled for February 18 at the Red Lion Hotel in Lewiston.

The January membership meeting will be held Wednesday, January 4, beginning at 7:30 p.m., in Room B30 in the basement of Lewis Hall, LCSC campus.

If you are still receiving this letter via US mail, but would like to receive it via e-mail, please send your name and e-mail address to dts@clarkston.com; this could save the club considerable costs in copying and postage.
