March 2007 NewsletterPRESIDENT’S MESSAGE: YOUR CLUB STILL NEEDS A SECRETARY AND NEWSLETTER EDITOR!! The job is not rocket-science, but needs someone who can take meeting notes, convert them into minutes, and also put together and mail the newsletter. As busy as this President’s job has become, with range improvements and matches, and day-to-day decision making I cannot do it all, and need your help! Call me at 751-0310 or email me at rick-ceil@syringa.net. Thank you! And the Club thanks you! The Club also needs a rubber tired tractor with front bucket (with operator, would be great!) for placing gravel of all sizes, at the range. We have a CMP match scheduled for March 17, and need 4 ½ cubic yards of pea gravel (which we have on hand) spread on the six-bench side of the range. Call me or Frank Perkins at 743-2452 if you can help. Concrete work-target holders at 200 and 300 yards, started on February 14, and will continue until done, in time for the Club’s first Hunter Rifle Bench Rest Match scheduled for March 18. Thanks go to Joe Metz, J. Jones, Frank Perkins, and Dean Narramore. Hey! We do need a lot more help with this! This group, including me, ranges in age from 62 (JJ Jones) to 73 (Joe Metz). Only two of us are capable of lifting those 60 lb bags of redicrete and pouring them into the mixer. Get involved! Concrete forms go in next Wednesday, Feb 28, and concrete will be mixed and poured on March 7. Coffee and donuts will be provided. Let me know! The Club needs volunteers to help work the Gun Show coming up on March 17 and 18. This will be a very busy weekend, as we have a CMP match, and a Hunter Rifle Bench Rest match, and the Gun Show to man. If you can help man the table at the gun show, call Frank Perkins. Thanks. Last, more Range Officers are needed at the range, to help with the workload. Call Dean Narramore at 758-3279 if you can do this. There are some nice perks with the job. UPCOMING MATCHES AND MEETINGS: The next Board and General Membership meeting will be held in MLH B32 on the LCSC campus on March 7. The next two Silhouette matches are February 24 and March 24. The next CMP match (Type A) will be held March 17, followed by one on April 21. The First-ever Hunter Rifle Bench Rest match will be held March 18. This is bull’s-eye shooting at 100 and 200 yards, using a rifle weighing no more than 10 pounds, barrel a minimum of 18 inches long, stock width no more than 2 1/4 inches, caliber 6mm or more with a case capacity of at least 45.5 grains of water (= a .30-30 case), using a scope of no more than 6 power (variables can be taped at 6x), falling-block and single-shot rifles are allowed. This match will be sanctioned by the NBRSA-National Bench Rest Shooters Assn. If you are a first-time shooter, you don’t have to be an NBRSA member. After that, you do have to be a member. Cost is $50/year. Trophies will be awarded. Any further questions-call Glenn Sampson, Match Director at 509-397-2075, or Denny Andrews, local NBRSA Regional Director at 243-7039. The following NBRSA match will be held on April 22. The safety rules for these NBRSA matches are different from all other matches. Come to the meeting on March 7 to learn about and discuss them! Glenn Sampson will be present to explain them. The RO(s)scheduled for March 18 should plan to attend this meeting.
