Lewis Clark Wildlife Club Newsletter - December 2009
The next Board and Membership Meetings, Wednesday, March 4, 2009 will be combined and will be the first of a series of dinner meetings. This one will be a Dutch Oven dinner at the Idaho Department of Fish and Game facility in Lewiston at 3316 16th St. Dinner starts at 6:30 PM. Later, a representative from Fish and Game will speak, subject to be announced. Very important to RSVP Mike Lorenz at 208.746.9146.
The CMP match scheduled for February 21 will be a CR40 match rather than one just for the M-1 Garand. CR40 stands for
Club Rules, 40 rounds. You supply your own ammo which can be reloads. There will be different categories for different types or model of firearm or shooter, ie Military Bolt, Military Semi Auto, Civilian Hunting Rifle, M-14, SKS, Youth Small Bore and so on. Each catagory will be 6 shooters minimum and will have 3 or 4 positions. It's about time........we have been hearing about these open shoots and now we finally get to do one. Please call Ken Jacks, 208.798.3159 for info.
The Club held it's annual RO Appreciation banquet January 31 at Tomato Bros. in Clarkston. Also, this year, the survivors of Rick Brigham's infamous Project From Hell were invited and presented with a group trophy. As every one might remember, when we were thinking the target backer holder project was just about over the mold boards would not come up out of the cement. It took another couple of weeks of knawing, chipping, and gouging, to finish up. With tenacity and sweat and no fatal injuries Rick, Mike, JJ, Jess, Ken, Jon, John, and another Mike got er done.
But, getting back to the Range Officers, Vern Judkins was acknowledged for being the RO with the most hours. Accident free too, nice going Vern and thanks.
It was a great party and if you want to go to the next one all you need to do is sign up and be a Range Officer. We are down to about half our strength compared to this time last year.
In order to encourage more membership attendance we are starting a cash door prize drawing each month. The prize starts at
$35 and grows by $10 per meeting ($155 cap) until someone wins. That is to say, you have to be present to win.
We will have our usual booth at the Lewiston Gun Show in March, '09 but the pictures on the back board need freshening. If you have snapshots of old or present members standing with hunting kills or at work parties or sitting in fishing boats or you have pictures of wildlife, sunsets
over the mountains, etc, please give them to Mike Washburn, 208.746.2699. Don't worry about picture quality or size. Printcraft
and their computer have been working miricles.
If you would like to find out the Nitty Gritty on Bills (proposed laws) that supposedly are before congress here's how: Go to <www.house.gov> hit "Find a Bill, Amendment, or Debate" in the center column. Type in the id number of the bill like say "HR45" in the box "Search Bill Summary & Status", check "Bill Number" and hit Search. This will give you the Library of Congress record of H.R.45 including a plain English summary, who is sponsoring and co-sponsoring the bill, it's current status and so on.
Don't forget the Appleseed Clinic at our range May 2 & 3.
OBTW, the Secretary needs a break from doing the Newsletter. As you can see, journalistic talent is not a requirement
