Lewis Clark Wildlife Club Newsletter - July 2010

6-BENCH BRIDGE. Work is progressing! All the wood was removed by a crew of (only) six members on Monday, July 12. Four of the six, led by President Blackwell, power-washed it and welded angle irons on all the cross-pieces(to support the steel decking) on July 16, Friday. Monday the 19th saw the same four finishing welding and spray painting the structure with primer (which ran out). When the rest of the primer is obtained, and the bridge coated with paint, then it will be ready for the steel sheeting/diamond plate decking, some time in the next two weeks. Once the decking is welded on, and guard rails also welded on, the entire structure will be coated with a tan, non-slip coating. Thanks to Gary Blackwell, Jess Stone, Jon Johnson, Kevin Spradlin, J.J. Jones, and Rick Brigham. If you can help, especially moving the 6X7 ½ foot steel plates (280 lbs. each) contact Gary Blackwell at 790-3793.

SHOOTERS USING THE RANGE DURING THE WEEK need to pay regular range fees, unless up-to-date RO’s are shooting (for free). The same rules apply-$5 for members, $10 for non-members, and the range log is to be filled out, same as regular shooting days. Whoever opens the range is responsible. Thanks!

DO NOT FORGET the Friends of the NRA GUN RAFFLE on Saturday, July 24 at Boomers in downtown Lewiston. Several local gun dealers are offering enough firearms to have several "walls of guns" from which to choose. Pay $10 early or $15 at the door to get in, and tickets are $10/$20/and $50, depending on the wall. There will be a no-host bar and barbecue at Boomer’s. Call Gary at 790-3793 for tickets.

ATTENDANCE DRAWING: Robert Almquist missed out on $75 because he was not at the June club meeting, and Little John Navarro lost $85 by not attending the July meeting. Since there have been no winners, and since this idea did not increase attendance, the program is cancelled.

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF THE NRA? Why not? You may not agree with all that the NRA does, but it is still the bastion for Second Amendment rights when it comes to legislation at all levels, in addition to promoting all shooting sports. And Friends of the NRA have granted this club over $33,000 for many of the improvements all you shooters enjoy.

AGENDA ITEMS: Is there anything you want discussed at the next Board or general meeting (beside the water/sanitation issues)? Please let Rick Brigham (509-751-0310 H/ 509-780-3061 C, rickceil30@cableone.net) know within the next several days, so it can be added to the agenda for the next meeting. Thanks!

NEXT MEETING IS WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 4, AT THE IDAHO FISH AND GAME OFFICE IN LEWISTON. General membership meeting is at 7 PM; Board meeting starts at 6 PM.
