Lewis Clark Wildlife Club Newsletter - August 20106-BENCH BRIDGE IS FINALLY DONE!! Many, many thanks to Gary Blackwell, Jess Stone, Jon Johnson, Tony Love, Kevin Spradlin, JJ Jones, Ken Jacks, and Rick Brigham for the many hours over many days, often starting at 7 AM at the range, spent tearing out all the wood and hauling it away, power washing the steel structure, welding angle iron supports, spray priming everything, welding on the steel deck plates and railings, and applying the non-skid finish. And thanks to the businesses that donated supplies and equipment, including Pacific Steel, Custom Coat, Gateway Materials, Sherwin-Williams Paint, and Schurman’s True Value Hardware. WE HAVE A NATIONAL-LEVEL SHOOTER in Board Member and Hunter Bench Rest competitor Glenn Sampson. The Hunters Bench Rest Nationals were held over four days last week in Wenatchee, at the Wenatchee Rifle and Revolver Club range. 42 competitors came from as far away as Iowa and Texas. Shooting was at 100, 200, and 300 yards. Ten rings are ½ inch, 1 inch, and 1 ½ inches, respectively at those distances. A total of 250 points is possible at each range. Here is what Glenn did: 3rd in the 100/200 yard aggregate (485 of 500 possible with 6x); 4th in the two gun 100-200/200-300 (980 of 1000, 19x); 4th in the 300 (237/250, 2x); 4th in the 100-200-300 (732/750, 15x); 2nd in the 200 (248/250, 4x). And he was a member of the 5-man "Rejects" team which took all team competitions. Weather conditions included wind, heat, mirage, and dust. Congratulations, Glenn! And thanks for being local Hunter Bench Rest match director for the past 4 years! WATER PROBLEMS continue at the range, but we are working on them! The springs have slowed considerably, and the club is exploring other options for providing water for the toilets and hosing the firing lines. Stay tuned. A ROMAX FUN GUN aka RUGER .22 MINI GATLING GUN is for sale. It features two side-by-side 10-22's, operated by a single hand crank. One revolution of the crank sends 8 rounds down range. Pure fun! The package includes the two Rugers, special machined rifle holder and crank, and heavy duty base. Gary Blackwell at 208-790-3793 is asking $1295 for the unit. Call him if you are interested. ARE YOU A MEMBER OF THE NRA? If not, why not? You may not agree with everything that the NRA does, but it is still our best protector of Second Amendment rights, and it promotes all shooting sports. And Friends of NRA grants have provided over $33,000 in funding for local improvements at the LCWC range. AGENDA ITEMS Is there anything you want discussed at the next Board or General Membership meeting? Please let Rick Brigham(509-751-0310/ rickceil30@cableone.net) know within the next several days, for inclusion at the next meeting. Thanks!
